Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Spread

Rich as frosting, this is a spread best savored as a treat in small servings. While similar to Nutella, this spread has a darker chocolate taste with notes of brown sugar.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hazelnuts, toasted
  • 6 medjool dates, pitted
  • ⅓ cup cocoa powder
  • ¾ tsp. vanilla extract
  • ⅛ tsp. kosher salt
  • 4 Tbsp. canola oil (use milk instead of oil for a milk chocolate version- with fewer calories too)

Directions

  1. Process hazelnuts in a food processor until a smooth paste is formed.
  2. Add the dates and process until fully incorporate, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients and continue blending until creamy. Store in the fridge.
