Juicy, flavorful chicken burgers are topped with a sweet and tangy sauce. Alfalfa sprouts offer a nice crunch to the final sandwich. Chili paste adds a nice medium spicy kick, which can be adjusted up or down depending on how much heat you enjoy.
Tip: If it’s not grilling season, make these under the broiler in your oven. Set the broiler to high and cook, turning once, until no longer pink in the center (3-4 minutes per side).
Ingredients
Sauce:
- 2 Tbsp. natural peanut butter
- 2 tsp. low-sodium soy sauce
- 1½ tsp. sesame oil
- 1 tsp. water
- 1 tsp. rice vinegar
- 1 clove garlic, minced
Burgers:
- 1 lb. ground chicken
- ½ cup finely chopped green onions
- 1 Tbsp. chili paste with garlic
- 2 tsp. grated fresh ginger
- 2 tsp. low-sodium soy sauce
- 4 Guiding Star-worthy whole-grain sandwich rolls
- 1 cup alfalfa sprouts
Directions
- Whisk together sauce ingredients until smooth.
- Preheat grill to medium.
- Mix together chicken, green onion, chili paste, ginger, and soy sauce. Divide mixture into 4 equal portions, shaping each into a ½” thick patty.
- Place patties on a grill rack coated with cooking spray. Grill until no longer pink in the center (4 minutes per side).
- Place patties on buns and top with sprouts and sauce.
