Chicken Burgers with Peanut Sauce

Juicy, flavorful chicken burgers are topped with a sweet and tangy sauce. Alfalfa sprouts offer a nice crunch to the final sandwich. Chili paste adds a nice medium spicy kick, which can be adjusted up or down depending on how much heat you enjoy.

Tip: If it’s not grilling season, make these under the broiler in your oven. Set the broiler to high and cook, turning once, until no longer pink in the center (3-4 minutes per side).

Ingredients

  • Sauce:

    • 2 Tbsp. natural peanut butter
    • 2 tsp. low-sodium soy sauce
    • 1½ tsp. sesame oil
    • 1 tsp. water
    • 1 tsp. rice vinegar
    • 1 clove garlic, minced

    Burgers:

    • 1 lb. ground chicken
    • ½ cup finely chopped green onions
    • 1 Tbsp. chili paste with garlic
    • 2 tsp. grated fresh ginger
    • 2 tsp. low-sodium soy sauce
    • 4 Guiding Star-worthy whole-grain sandwich rolls
    • 1 cup alfalfa sprouts

Directions

  1. Whisk together sauce ingredients until smooth.
  2. Preheat grill to medium.
  3. Mix together chicken, green onion, chili paste, ginger, and soy sauce. Divide mixture into 4 equal portions, shaping each into a ½” thick patty.
  4. Place patties on a grill rack coated with cooking spray. Grill until no longer pink in the center (4 minutes per side).
  5. Place patties on buns and top with sprouts and sauce.
