Apple Cinnamon Almond Smoothie

Vanilla, maple syrup, and warm spices bring this protein-rich smoothie together. The almond butter and almond milk make it great for your heart. Bonus benefit: a serving of fruit!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • ¼ tsp. cinnamon
  • 1½ tsp. maple syrup
  • ¼ tsp. vanilla extract
  • Pinch allspice
  • Pinch nutmeg
  • 1 Tbsp. natural almond butter
  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 Tbsp. ground flaxseed

Directions

  1. Warm almond milk over low/medium heat until small bubbles form. Whisk in cinnamon, maple syrup, vanilla extract, allspice and nutmeg.
  2. Transfer almond milk to blender. Add almond butter, applesauce and ground flaxseed. Blend on slow for a few seconds and then on high until well blended.
