Rich as frosting, this is a spread best savored as a treat in small servings. While similar to Nutella, this spread has a darker chocolate taste with notes of brown sugar.
Ingredients
- 1 cup hazelnuts, toasted
- 6 medjool dates, pitted
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- ¾ tsp. vanilla extract
- ⅛ tsp. kosher salt
- 4 Tbsp. canola oil (use milk instead of oil for a milk chocolate version- with fewer calories too)
Directions
- Process hazelnuts in a food processor until a smooth paste is formed.
- Add the dates and process until fully incorporate, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Add the remaining ingredients and continue blending until creamy. Store in the fridge.
